Today, I went in to have my fillings done! Once again, I was greeted as soon as I walked in and waited less than five minutes before I was in the chair! I was slightly nervous, but Steve assured me that Dr. Dang was a pro with administering local anesthesia and that I wouldn't feel a thing. Cue slight panic because if someone says that something won't happen, it'll probably happen. He was right though! Dr. Dang applied some sort of gel, massaged it in for a while before having me close my eyes and giving me the shots -- I didn't feel a thing, except the feeling... of numbness after application? It was totes fab. She explained every part of the procedure -- when she was cleaning out the cavities, when she was filling them in, when she would use water, when she would use air, etc. Again, I like knowing what's about to happen, so I really appreciated that! I dozed off for a bit honestly, which is amazing -- I hate sleeping anywhere except at home, but I was just so relaxed and comfortable! In about two and a half hours, Dr. Dang and Tania did all my fillings, a cleaning, as well as fixed a chip in my tooth without me even mentioning it. She also kept telling me what a good patient I was. My ego is growing.
Like I said earlier, I really hate going to the dentist, but that's definitely changing now. I don't think I can go to any other dentist anymore, none can compare! I will most likely be coming back to get my wisdom teeth removed here someday as well as anything else I need done. Seriously, come here if you want a fab dental experience

Early this year, my wisdom tooth on my bottom right side was bothering me. It had emerged from the surface and was impacted. I went to a dentist for a cleaning and to help determine the problem. He had told me that all my wisdom teeth needed to be extracted, but his office did not do oral surgery. I was referred me to an oral surgeon, but their online reviews were quite horrendous. After that, I decided to do my research and discovered Dr. Amy Wong and Special Dental Care. All their reviews were excellent. Not one bad review in site. I immediately scheduled an appointment. It was very easy to do and to save time, you can download and fill out their forms and bring it with you on the day of your appointment.
On my first visit, I noticed that their facilities were very well kept, and their staff was extremely helpful and friendly. My teeth were examined, and the x-rays were free. I do not have dental insurance, and I thought that would be problematic for my wisdom teeth extractions. However, I was wrong, and they were able to help me on the price of my general anesthesia (which I am extremely grateful for).

I have not been to the Dentist in over 6 years, and although I've been keen on my dental hygiene, I was a bit nervous to see how my teeth were faring after so long of not seeing an actual Dentist. After careful selection and recommendations, I chose Special Dental to check out my dental regions. I booked an appointment with Steve and he was very welcoming and accommodating for my request on a weekend due to my busy work schedule. Once I signed in I was offered a bottled water, which I thought was very nice since I was a bit nervous and developing dry mouth. The wait time was very minimal which was a delightful surprise. I had the pleasure of having Dr. Michelle Dang perform my teeth exam and cleaning. She has a very upbeat and funny personality which made the experience very positive for me. At the same time she was very knowledgeable and honest about my teeth, while recommending what I need to do to keep my teeth the best condition. I came out a winner with no new cavities and also a new place I can recommend to my friends and family!

Took my little girl here after having a horrible experience with her HMO doctor thru insurance. They offered a free exam and x-ray with yelp check-in which was really inviting since I was looking for second opinions since I hated my regular HMO dentist. I knew she had a big cavity in one tooth and a few other questionable areas. Steve, the front office staff was extremely helpful in explaining everything to me and incredibly kind. I hate going into any kind of doctor's office and being met by rude receptionists and Steve was nothing of the sort. He made my visits really easy and worry-free.
The two female doctors we saw, Dr. Wong and Dr. Tang were both very sweet! My 8 year old said they were both nice and made her feel very safe and comfortable. While I was in the waiting room, Steve even bought out a Kindle for my little boy to play with--Thanks to Steve, we ordered a Kindle Fire HD a week later, lol!)
Overall, I am very satisfied. Was really glad they took the time to talk (and properly explain everything) to me like a valued client and gave me many options--including cash options which worked more to my benefit.
Having been at so many dentists now, the best advice I have for anyone is to run the other way if the dentist you are seeing takes HMO insurance. Since HMO dentist don't get much for what's covered, they will find other ways to make you do unnecessary work and most of the time aren't honest.

After having several traumatic experiences at other dental offices, I landed here at Special Dental Care. The staff here are great, they explain all the work and billings in details. They really take the time to make sure that you're comfortable as we all know being in that chair in the dental office is no fun. I am a dental phobia. At the age of 36, I still have the 4 wisdom tooth in me because I'm really terrified if needle was to put inside my mouth. But I know I have to do something about it because one of the wisdom started to decay. So I started a search on the internet for a place where they can do deep sedation during the extraction. After going through all the browsing, reading, calling etc.. I decided to call and make an appointment with Special Dental Care as they currently having the promotion of Free Consultation, Examination & X-ray (digital for full mouth). Comparing to other places I researched, you have to pay for all these and X-Ray is traditional kind with 4 bite wings only.

The yellow pages! Let's see: full page ads but NOTHING about putting you to sleep. OK...junk mail ads! One bright spot: a place in Arcadia that puts kids to sleep. Okay time for Yelp to tell the tale, the reviews say nothing about serving adults (discrimination!) but a nice place for kids. Above that page was a "People who viewed this page viewed..." Special Dental Care in San Gabriel. Read some reviews and went to their own website & thank goodness they perform "sedation dentistry". So I sent an e-mail describing my difficulty to Dr. Amy & next day Monday she sent one back that I could set an exam & check things out. A few days later I was there.

Special Dental Care is amazing and will now be my permanent dentist from now on! After not going to the dentist for a few years I went in for some check up with some X-rays. Unlike my previous dentist looking to make a quick dollar, Dr. Dang was great and didn't recommend filling every little imperfection. She gave me advice on flossing and told me we will check my teeth in a few months instead of filling right away. The whole staff was nice and friendly and lastly the environment was clean and welcoming. See you all again soon!

Took my 7 year old daughter that needed extensive work done (2 baby root canals, multiple cavities and sealants). The staff (Steve and dr. Amy) are extremely nice and great with kids. My daughter was put to sleep for less than 3 hrs and everything was done painlessly.... she remembers it as a pleasant experience.... gave everyone a hug as we were leaving. She is not afraid to go back to the dentist ...as I was worried about that. This place is also very affordable. Explained everything to me as to what is covered and to what extent by my insurance. Could not have been happier with the whole experience. Thank you Guys!!!!

I wish I can do more than write this review. If you have a small child this is the dentist you want to take them to. My son needed some work done on his teeth and they gave me a fair estimate. I took my son to another dentist and they wanted to charge me twice as much. Needless to say my son went through the procedure and it went off without a hitch. During the procedure they reassessed my son and were able to finish the work under the estimate. Needless to say I was impressed and grateful that they were able to get my son done under what they estimated. So I am very satisfied and highly recommend this practice with its professional and friendly staff. The best thing you can do for your teeth is to visit them!

I strongly recommend this dental office if you suffer from anxiety. It had been years since the last time i had been checked by a dentist but i knew it was time for me to find a place that could somewhat cater to my fears and understand some traumatizing experiences i endured in the military.
After doing some research on google i came across this dental office, read the reviews and saw their pictures here on yelp, i was convinced this was the place for me!
I am beyond pleased with my experience and feel fortunate to have found them. Everyone is friendly and pleasant therfore i was able to cope with my anxiety a lot better than i thought.

All I can say is Wow! The level of customer service in this dental office is amazing! I was already impressed with the amazing staff during my initial visit but was blown away when an issue came up on a Sunday and they were able to open up the office and see me within a few hours! Simply the best experience I have had at a dental office yet! Dr. Youn's calm nature immediately puts you at ease and she takes the time to listen and address concerns. And the office staff, including Stephany, are so helpful! I feel lucky to have found them!

My buddy and I had our first appointment at Special Dental Care today through recommendation from a friend that had her dental work done flawlessly at Special Dental Care.
First Impression was the spotless and modern facility right when we entered the main entrance. We were greeted by the friendly staff who helped look up our insurance eligibility since we forgot to bring our insurance cards.
After a couple minutes of wait, our xrays were taken. My dentist, Dr. Dang, went over my xray images with me and told me what I needed done (which were two fillings). I also needed a denture mold for my teeth whitening. She was very attentive and thorough. She explained the process as she continued to work on my teeth. I was more than please with the results.
My friend also had a great experience. Since he had not been to a dentist for over two years, he needed a deep cleaning and couple of fillings as well. His dentist did an excellent job. The dentist went over his dental images with him and explained his options and benefits of each option before proceeding with the procedure.
I highly recommend Special Dental Care if you need any type of dental work, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait for my six months appointment.

I love this place. Starting with the Receptionist Stephanie and Jose the assistant they have been wonderful and nice to me. I have had traumatizing experiences at the dentist office and I made sure I told them about my pain tolerance Zero. I had to get a root canal and I was so scared, but they informed me of the procedure and where very comforting and kept there promise of no pain....The Dr. was amazing, very friendly and easy to talk to. Dr. Youn was very patient and answered all my questions and concerns. I recommend this place to any one who has had a bad Dentist experiences and wants a pain free facility...

We have finally found the best dental office!! It is call Special dental care. My daughters loves the dentist and the staffs. We have bad experiences in the pass with other dental office where they would lie to you that your teeth need service on, but actually you don't need it. Special dental care is very professional, honest and tell you the truth of what your teeth really need service on. The dentist takes their time with care to clean my 5 year old daughter's teeth. She and I was so please with the out come. She did not cry!!! Instead she has a big smile on her face and said "mommy I like my teeth and Dr Wong". My daughters and I will continue to use Special dental care and will recommend to our friends and family.

really like this dental office. I was desperately needed a dentist for my care because I was in so much pain due to my wisdom tooth. I came across this dental office when I read a sign that said, "free xray, free consultation" and I really thought that was great since I do not have insurance. When I walked in, Stephanie and the dental assistant really took care of me. They were super nice and friendly and made sure that I get my x-ray and antibiotics. I made an appointment with them on the following week to get 3 of my wisdom teeth extracted. The assistant called to remind me about my appointment and gave me thorough directions. Not going to lie, but I was super nervous! Dr. Carlos Moretta was my dentist. He calmed me down and did such an AMAZING and WONDERFUL job extracting 3 of my teeth. I was so surprised that I did not know when he pulled them out! He did such a smooth and professional job!
Since I did not have insurance, they really work with me with the price! WIll come back again for teeth cleaning!

This is the best dentist I have been too. They are very professional and make you feel calm . As soon as you get to the office you are greeted with a smile and the wait is less than 10 minutes. I made an appointment. I kept delaying and missing about 4 appointments. Office was persistent in chasing me. When i finally went, the experience was quite smooth. I'm always nervous at the dental office, but the clean environment and Dr. Wong explaining things before she performed the procedures...really put me at ease.

Special Dental Care is the best dental office I've been. I have always been traumatized going to the dentist since I was a kid as well as an adult. I've been to many dental offices, but nothing in comparison to Special Dental Care. They pretty much have everything you need in one office. With other dental offices, you'll need to schedule for a Dental Anesthesiologist to get knocked out and who knows what schedule you'll get.
Special Dental Care is different. They have a Dental Anesthesiologist right there when you need them. Dr. Wong is a professional dentist/anesthesiologist who took care of my deep cleaning and cavities. I was skeptical at first, but Dr. Wong ensures that everything would ok and she was right, I didn't need to get knocked out and the deep cleaning is painless. If you have deep cleaning before, you know what I mean. Also, no more cavities! Dr. Wong is terrific and has built my trust in her. I will return again. I would recommend any this dental office to anyone including my family and friends. Trust me, I do not recommend a place to anyone unless it's good especially to my family and friends. If you are looking for professional, reliable, honest, friendly and painless services, this is the place for you!
Also, if you have a Special Needs kid, this is the place for them as well. You don't have to search for a dental office to schedule for a Dental Anesthesiologist and may be waiting for months to get an appointment. I know because I have one.

When I entered the office, I was welcomed by a very friendly receptionist staff. Also, the ambiance of the office felt very homey and cozy.
I went in to get some of my tooth pain checked and I later found out that I had a few cavities. I never experienced getting fillings or anything of that sort before, but Dr. Wong was professional and very efficient as I got my cavities taken care of right then. It was painless and I no longer feel any tooth pain.
The office surely feels like home and it's so comforting to know that I am welcomed anytime to call for any questions may have or even stop by the office with any dental care concerns.

I love this Dentist Office!!!! They are amazing at what they do. They provided me with the best service I have ever encountered at a dentist office, their staff is knowledgeable, friendly and caring to their patients. I got my wisdom teeth pulled there about a month ago I was super nervous all my co workers and friends were saying omg its going to hurt telling me about their own experiences at other dentist office. Since I was hearing all of them I began to get nervous when the day arrived I went to the Special Dental nervous as hell, the staff noticed and assured me that everything would be fine. They were so attentive to my feelings helping me feel calm and relaxed Dr. Tae did the procedure quickly and painless, I was shocked at the fact I didn't feel a thing I was so relieved that I didn't have an experience like all my co-workers and friends had. I went for follow ups with Dr. Amy I loved her she is so nice and gentle. Not to mention Stephany and Steve they are always friendly and appreciative about their patients I really feel at home every single time. I have to say this office has been one in a million for me I highly recommend them, trust me once you go there you will never fear the dentist again.

Special Dental Care is a very, very good dental office. The dental office is very clean, contemporary, with the latest dental equipment. I went in for a dental cleaning and the dentist and staff was very nice and well informed of what I needed done. Chipped tooth, wisdom tooth, cavities, teeth whitening, braces, cleaning -- a few of the services that Special Dental Care can handle. No referrals are needed because of their in-house all-in-one capability to provide specialized dentist services in aesthetics and anesthesia.
I was referred to this office for removal of my wisdom tooth. I had a few cavities from the initial check-up and a chip on my front tooth. I scheduled several appointments, and was able to adjust my time with a quick call the day before. I disliked my hour long waits with my previous dental office even with an appointment. It was great to have Special Dental Care see me on time as scheduled and not waste my time! My 3 year daughter can sit in the waiting room watching cartoon. The front desk showed the Sleeping Beauty cartoon at request.
Dr. Amy worked on my front chipped tooth and was able to blend the whiteness and sculpted my tooth and took the time to handle it with care. She can mold the shape of small teeth into full-size teeth! I can now show off my new front teeth and can smile big.
The office is brand new with Ceasars Palace design details to the ceiling. The comfort of the chair with features of the tilt mechanism makes it very comfortable to the neck. The doctor explained their process to sterilize the tools after each patient use and the machinery is important to their standards of cleanliness.
I am returning soon for removal of my wisdom tooth and will need some anesthesia. The office has a dental anesthesiologist so I do not have to be referred to a different dental office for wisdom tooth removal.
Even my 3 year old had her teeth checked and clean. Ask for Dr. Amy as she was able to calm down my kid and did a quick cleaning.
Besides the services, the office is in a central location in the San Gabriel Valley which makes it easy to find. It's on the way from markets and restaurants so the drive is convenient. It is located on San Galley Blvd just about two blocks past the cross street Valley Blvd. You can park on the street and there is also private parking in the back.
The office staff is helpful to handle any dental insurance, including checking if you qualify for any discounts. My out of pocket have been covered through my insurance and my out of pocket is as much as my lunch. So I am happy with the low costs.
I recommend Special Dental Care from the basic normal routine work to specialized dental services.

Spotless setting, tastefully decorated waiting room with excellent air conditioning (a must in this 100+ degree weather), and very skilled and courteous Dentists and Dental Anesthesiologists. If that is what you want, then Special Dental Care has got it all!
I cannot stress enough how great this dental clinic really is! The dentists here have a wealth of knowledge and expertise, are very open and honest, and will answer any questions or concerns you may have. A good friend referred me to Special Dental Care after undergoing a root canal procedure at this clinic. She raved about their specialized and unique approach, so I decided to take her advice and brought my younger brother here to have his wisdom teeth extracted. I wanted to ensure that my brother received the best service possible, as he is known to have a fear and anxiety associated with dental visits. Other dental clinics have been unsuccessful at inducing a state of relaxation for him. This clinic was perfect for him because they take pride in specializing with Sedation to minimize any discomfort, pain, anxiety, and fear associated with dental visits that children, adults, and even individuals with mental disabilities (such as Autism) may have.
Upon arrival to the dental clinic, I discovered that parking was ample and is located behind the dental building. You can enter the dental clinic from either the front or back of the building. As my brother and I entered the clinic, we were greeted by friendly staff and offered beverages. While in the waiting room, we watched Transformers 2, which I must admit, is a lot more relaxing than watching the mundane news and commercials that are usually on in other dental clinics while waiting to get your teeth checked.
We waited no more than 2 minutes when the dentist called us inside the room. My brother started fidgeting around, and the dentist instantly knew he was nervous and was able to calm him down by using a therapeutic voice with soothing words. My brother quickly relaxed and "dozed off". I waited inside the waiting room for less than an hour for my brother's wisdom teeth extraction. The Dental Anesthesiologist, Dr. Amy Wong, told me all the details of the surgery as well as what to expect and how to care for him afterwards. I give these dental clinic 5 stars mainly because of Dr. Wong. She had the commitment and heart to call my brother and I for following three days to follow upon him. It wasn't just any three days that made me happy, but these three days consisted of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, which demonstrates that she went out of her way to care for her patients! I am DEFINITELY coming back here for my future dental appointments! I am truly glad I discovered this place and I feel blessed to have such wonderful dentists to care for my family and me!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Special Dental Care. I was referred to them by my previous Dentist, I suspect, because I'm a nightmare of a patient. I'm 33 years old, and a few traumatizing experiences have rendered me absolutely petrified of even having someone look inside my mouth, let alone perform any work. However, the wisdom teeth that I never had taken out were starting to bother me, and I had no choice but to deal with it.
Before my first appointment with Dr. Amy, I was in e-mail and phone contact with Marcella at the front desk. She's a kind and very patient young woman who answered all of my questions. I credit her for calming me down enough to make an appointment! She advised me that their new patient forms were available online, so I was able to fill everything out beforehand and save a lot of time.
Appointment day! I didn't have any wait time, and was promptly escorted to the spotless and modern exam room. In a few moments, Dr. Amy floated into the room, like the angel she is. I was literally shaking from fear, and she didn't roll her eyes or treat me like an inconvenience. She didn't decide it would be easier to refer me to someone else, or to have an assistant do the dirty work. Instead, she treated me like her divine calling was to deal with petrified patients. It was right then that I decided I wanted her to be my new Dentist.
My previous Dentist had sent my X-Rays ahead of time to Special Dental Care, but Dr. Amy wanted her own. Thank goodness she did! A fancy panoramic X-Ray of my entire head allowed her to see everything. I didn't have four wisdom teeth, I actually had SIX, something my first set of X-Rays failed to show. I was scheduled for extractions that day. A few days before the appointment, Dr. Amy herself called to remind me about pre-op procedures. I thought that was special, because she could have easily had an assistant make the call.
This morning was the day of my appointment, and I was nervous. I was having general anesthesia, and I had weird fears like waking up in the middle of the procedure, or accidently biting my Dentist. None of that happened, and it felt like my wedding day; a team of professionals were tending to me and fawning over me, making sure I was happy and comfortable! Dr. Dang, a Dental Anesthesiologist like Dr. Amy, explained what they were going to do. Dr. Dang assured me, no less than a hundred times, that I wouldn't wake up or feel any pain. The oral surgeon (whose name escaped me, and I feel just terrible about it), answered even more questions. He was absolutely wonderful, and just as kind as everyone else there. I fell asleep almost as soon as Dr. Dang worked her magic, and I woke up about twenty minutes later, minus three teeth. I've had general anesthesia before, but this was the first time I didn't wake up violently ill. In fact, I only felt a little groggy and fully regained my senses shortly after waking up.
I could go on and on about how wonderful the staff is. I'm so happy I've found a place that I feel comfortable at. I highly recommend Special Dental care. You won't be disappointed!

Finally, I found a dental office with reliable, professional, honest, and gentle dentists in the SG Valley for the whole family! Dr. Wong and Dr. Yoon were very understanding when I told them to treat me like a 3 years old! I was traumatized since 10 years old and since then I refuse to go to any dentists unless I'm in great pain. I gave this place a try because I heard they have IV sedation. I want to make sure my kids don't have to go through the same experience as I did 30 years ago.
They explained thoroughly of the treatments and answered all my concerns, which made me feel very comfortable in trusting them. They took very good care of my 5 years old with teeth cleaning, fillings, and extractions with abscess and the best part is she has no recollection of the incident! If only this place takes HMO because our PPO didn't cover much and we had to pay a lot out of pocket. Luckily, they work with us on the price. I highly recommend anyone who has a bad experience with their dentists and give this one a try. Oh, did I mention this place has the state of the art equipments and the facility is very sanitized.

My 12 year old son and I were scared the night before the procedure! Both dentists worked on my son and myself. I had just been to the dentist in March and she found a missed cavity and needs to replace a filling I just got! My son needed the anesthesia and so far no pain and no reactions.
